As a global turnaround leader I have experienced the same symptoms as your client. This is going to happen as the team in the beginning is motivated to fix the issues and just simply grinds at a fast pace towards success…a complete turnaround. A few thoughts to add to your list.

– Keep a clear and measurable objective in front of yourself and the team. Know what done looks like for the turnaround. Be flexible and understand that you and your team are dealing with uncertainty if the business is not well.
– Do not be afraid to admit failure and change direction when the time is right. Learn from the failures and gain as much insight about your assumptions as you can. This helps the team to be involved and enjoy the success.
– Communicate and over communicate. Your team and the organization needs your leadership to drive them towards success, but do not lose them by not communicating often the direction and the successes.

One last point, be a humble leader and trust your team. When you are struggling you will need their feedback the most.

Great post, thanks!
